Miller Developments today, Wednesday 28 January, officially launched its D2 Business Park in Dyce, Aberdeen with Jenny Laing, the Leader of Aberdeen City Council, visiting the site to mark the occasion.
The business hub is continuing to make strong progress following deals with a number of new occupiers and the completion of key infrastructure on site.
Construction is currently underway at D2 on new premises for three major multinationals; BP Exploration Operating Company, ASCO Group Limited and Emerson Process Management. Norwegian conglomerate, Aker ASA, acquired the first phase at D2 in 2013 and its HQ office development for Aker Solutions completes in February 2015. A planning application is due to be submitted at the end of January for a new hotel development at D2.
A new road, Harvest Avenue, which will provide direct access from the site to the new ALR (Airport Link Road), which, in turn, will connect the Airport to the AWPR (Aberdeen West Peripheral Route) is also now open.
Miller Developments has made a multi-million pound investment in landscaping and infrastructure for D2 to ensure occupiers can take advantage of fully serviced sites, whilst work has now started on the AWPR and £15m funding for the new ALR was recently approved by Aberdeen City Council.
Councillor Laing commented: "Miller Developments' substantial investment in Aberdeen's long-term economic future is a clear signal of strong business confidence in the city and the surrounding region.
“D2 is providing an exceptional business environment and its excellent road and air connections have already made it a winner with a number of major international companies. I am proud of the way Aberdeen City Council worked closely with Miller in the planning and development stages to achieve such outstanding results.
“The success of the development proves that Aberdeen's broad-based energy economy will continue to sustain this area for many years to come. D2 is destined to be at the heart of this city's on-going success story, and provide high-quality jobs and services long into the future."
Located between Aberdeen International Airport to the north and the A96(T) to the south, the site benefits from superb transport connections.
David Milloy, Joint Managing Director of Miller Developments, added: “Since its launch in 2013, D2 has established itself as a prime location for business in Aberdeen. We have attracted some major names in the oil and gas industry and as well as offering bespoke packages of facilities, we are also enhancing the amenities we are offering on site with a hotel development in the pipeline.
“We are grateful to the Council for its ongoing support and its commitment to developing key infrastructure in the area which further adds to the appeal of D2.”
Planning consent was granted in November 2012 for 1.4m sq. ft. office, industrial and distribution space, making Miller Developments’ scheme one of the biggest mixed use developments in Scotland for many years. D2 will be developed over three phases and the masterplan incorporates significant landscaping and wide internal roads.
Knight Frank and CBRE are agents for D2.
